Nottingham’s C-Mone has been busy earning her stripes on the hip-hop underground for a while now: one-quarter of now-legendary Notts supercrew Outdaville, releasing records and touring the lengths n breadths of the UK’s clubs and radio stations in the process; later going solo with several EP releases, both on Son and her own label Dark Whisper Records; collaborating with Estelle on her debut CD and Mike Skinner on The Streets’ second album; helping put together a charity CD of local Notts talent in response to certain sad events in her hometown last year, and then starting off this year with a win at the UK Hip-Hop Awards as Best Female Emcee 2005.. since then she’s collaborated on a to-be-released cover of ‘Rapper’s Delight’ (originally recorded for 1xtra) alongside Sway and Klashnekoff and other UK hip-hop mainstays and had her music featured on film, dvd and current xbox 360 game ‘Project Gotham Racing 3’..
All good so far, but we feel like the best is yet to come, in fact its right here, with C-Mone’s debut album , ‘The Butterfly Effect’, wherein our lady takes flight and delivers an album of the most passionate, intelligent and honest hip-hop out there right now.
From skills to politics, personal history to beats n slices of life, the tracks contained in this album showcase an artist with a passion for her craft and an engagement with the world that should gladden the heart of any hip-hop true believer. Aided & abetted by the cream of Nottingham’s deep hip-hop production talent, C-Mone comes good on all fronts: MC, lyricist, storyteller and mentor, not to mention co-producer (with Nick Stez on the blazin ‘Magnificent 7’ which also features some of Nott’s finest mcs). Already receiving support from some of the nation’s finest on radio & in the press on the strength of current single ‘Second After Second’, People’ve been expecting good things from C-Mone for a while now, with good reason. now you got it.
