Meanwhile, mystic beatsmith PANJI provides the lush backdrop of deepsea vibes and submarine bass for Q to float lines that show previously unexplored depths to this emcee’s talent. In reflective mood, QUAKES puts the battle lyrics on ice for a minute: instead fluid rhymes paint a rich narrative of the past and hint at a positive prescription for the future, as inspired by a chance encounter with Neptune, god of the sea. Time to flip the script. No sooner said than done, as the Man shows language is no barrier to this emcee, as he proceeds to rip up the track with a little of that extra special French flaveur. Wearing his production hat on the original, QUAKES rocks the kick and the snare alongside that old hip-hop staple, the violin, and turns out a killer party track with a classic edge that still sounds fly even if your French ain’t all that. On top of that, there’s a supa-chunky, supa-funky remix by none other than the deranged b-boy scientist MAD DOCTOR X, who brings a whole new vibe to the proceedings.
