Son: Twelve

Believe it or not, it's now 12 years since we first set out our stall offering the finest in homegrown hip-hop. So next year we'll officially be a teenager..

Debut 12" by Quakes, featuring remixes by The Legendary Styly Cee, and the venerable Rob Life was introduced to the world on 23rd February 1998, and we described said release at the time as

'a statement of intent, setting the agenda for future releases. The label aims to introduce the next generation of underground hip-hop stars, and refresh those fans of hip-hop who have grown bored with the formulaic lyrical and musical approach of the vasy majority of emcee's and producers.'

Fairly cocky, but over the years we've done our best to stick to that original mission, and aspired to keep it fresh at all times.. And so we continue, with some of the freshest shit on the planet coming your way in 2010 (no joke).

Still cocky, y'see..

In the meantime, and to mark this little moment in time, we've put together a selection of tracks as a super-bargain download album, with a track from the back cat for each of the 12 years from '98 through to the here and now. We racked our brains, and came up with the imaginative title 'Twelve'.

Although as we've included a hot new one for 2010, there are actually 13 tracks.

Confusing possibly, but undeniably good value, as its all yours for a modest 2 quid.

We've gone for an eclectic mix of some of the lesser-known tracks from the EP's and albums, including many of our personal favourites, what we regard as hidden gems, and we think it makes a fine little album. See what you think.
